BGC Zones in the Okanagan Basin
This is a map of the Biogeoclimatic Zones that are found within the Okanagan Basin. I created this map to test out a digital elevation model that I upscaled and rendered in 3D. The original DEM was derived from a mosaic of mostly 30m SRTM data. The BGC data is all derived from provincial open data sources.
Big White Backcountry Topo
This was a fun personal project that I created to make skiing a little safer at my local ski resort. This map is based on the USGS 7.5 minute topo series and shows freeride routes and traverse times in and around the resort.
Howe Sound Watersheds
This map was created from municipal and tourism data for the Howe Sound area. It shows different watersheds and what municipal jurisdiction they fall under. It also shows anchorages in the sound and some other tourist oriented data. It's a great example of a standard file geodatabase workflow in ArcPro.
Shaded Relief 3D Renders
This is topo map of Tantalus that I made from scratch and rendered in three dimensions. I used a re-sampled raster mosaic that I created from 30m SRTM data to render the elevation, and created all of the land coverages, vectors and symbology in ArcPro.
White Rock Lake Wildfire
I created this map from scratch using the Canada Topographic basemap layers available in ArcPro and historical wildfire data made available through the BC Wildfire Service. This was an awful fire year in the Okanagan and I chose to use some of this data to map the extent of the fire for a school project where I tried to use unsupervised classification to create land use classes for the areas burned within the fire line.
The Monashee Mountains
This is a map of the Monashee that I made for fun. I really like the USGS 7.5 minute series topo maps so I wanted to emulate that style with an area close to home. Monashee Provincial Park is a really cool place that is worth checking out if you're ever in the Okanagan.
